Engaging in Career-Long Learning
As a teacher and lifelong learner, I have an obligation and passion to continue learning and applying my new-found knowledge to provide positive additions to my classroom. As part of my learning, I have been a part of many Professional Development and certification programs to better my understanding of various topics. This engages with the indicator meant for "seeking, critically reviewing and applying educational research to improve practice." This particular certification was completed online, and taught me the many ways in which trauma and stress can impact the growing mind of a child. During this process, I gained many insights that I will take to my future teachings.

During my field experience, I had many opportunities to utilize technology that had not been previously used in the classroom before. The novelty of this learning was very engaging for the students, and being able to provide them with interactive moments in a lesson made the experience very authentic and hands-on for them. This artifact on the right depicts a picture of me showing the students the SMART Board in a lesson while the class is engaged and sitting quietly. This artifact shows the indicator that I am "maintaining an awareness of emerging technologies to enhance knowledge and inform practice."
