This numeracy centre bin will be used to help students develop their subitizing skills, while also working on fine motor skills.

For this centre, students will be given a cup, a set of tongs, one dice, and a container of rocks, beans, or pom poms, or some other kind of material that they can pick up and move using the tongs. This bin will be inexpensive to create as all of the materials can be purchased at the dollar store.

For this activity, students will take turns rolling the dice. They will need to recognize the numbers one to six represented on the (subtilize). After they have identified the number, they will use the tongs to pick up and place that number of rocks into the cup in front of them.
